Besides the cancelling and re-arranging the 2019 WPF World championships in India due to Government acquisition of venue and the then civil unrest. Then the 2020 WPF World Cup in India was cancelled due Covid-19. Powerlifting has suffered a major impact from Covid-19 pandemic World-wide, due to lock down of Nations, serious difficulty in travel, hosting National and International Championships.
To help lifters, we have allowed Nations where possible, to host International events to enable lifters to challenge records.
WPF have had to hold email meetings to conduct the business of the WPF in 2019 and now 2020.
The WPF well-established legal status, legal registered logo and a proper constitution still stands well in the UK.
WPF philosophy during my tenure is that we do not ban Nations, lifters or expunge records. We disassociate ourselves from these types of persons. These are not good persons for our sport?
WPF has widened the Classification of events for lifters for Raw, Classic, Single Ply, Multi-Ply and Multi-Rep events to widen more lifter participation.
WPF has again presented a full programme for lifters in 2021 so, please! Go out and spread this good word, will YOU?
WPF are always looking for good people who can actively contribute to the WPF future activities. Do you know of any such GOOD people?
The WPF have a most excellent Web Master in Igor Soloviev, Russia, keeping all World, European and British Records and documents up to date on:
www.wpfpowerlifting.ru We thank him so much.
I want to thank the WPF Executive for all their support in this year, in our most unprecedented year in our sport due to Covid-19 effects on all our championships.
David Carter – President – WPF – 1st November 2020
